A terrorist survivor has shared an unusual experience from his time in captivity, revealing how he used a rare opportunity with a kidnapper's phone to check Manchester United's position on the Premier League table.
The survivor narrated the incident in a social media post, explaining that one of the kidnappers handed him a mobile phone and asked him to install WhatsApp and TikTok. While carrying out the task, he said he briefly took advantage of the moment to satisfy his curiosity about the football club he has supported for years.
Unexpected moment during captivity
According to the survivor, football crossed his mind despite the fear and uncertainty surrounding his situation at the time. Recalling the incident, he described how he quietly checked live football updates while setting up the applications requested by the kidnappers' leader.
"When I was in the kidnappers' den, their boss once handed me his phone and told me to install WhatsApp and TikTok for him. I no even argue, I just collect the phone… but while I was there doing it, I quietly sneaked to check live scores to see how Manchester United were doing on the Premier League table," the survivor said.
Manchester United loyalty
The survivor further disclosed that the incident happened around November and that Manchester United were sitting in ninth position on the Premier League table when he checked. He added that the experience made him realise how deeply attached he was to the club.
