Retired Nigerian General and Wife Plead for Help in Kidnappers' Video
Major General Abubakar Rabe (rtd) and his wife, abducted last week in Katsina State, have appealed for government intervention in a video released by their captors.
Major General Abubakar Rabe (rtd) and his wife, who were abducted last week along the Karaduwa-Matazu Road in Katsina State, have appealed to the government for help in a video released by their captors.
In the video, the couple is seen standing together while the wife relays the abductors' demands. She said the captors are asking for the release of three of their members identified as Sani, Aminu, and Nasiru. They also demanded the return of livestock allegedly seized from them.
The wife stated that two of the individuals the abductors want released were arrested in Jikamshi, while the third was arrested in Kano. She appealed to the Katsina State Government and leaders of five local government areas to grant the demands in order to secure their release.
The retired army general, who spoke briefly in the video, called for efforts to ensure peace, stating that the abductors had expressed interest in dialogue and peaceful coexistence.
The retired major general was reportedly travelling to Katsina on Saturday, May 30, alongside his wife, Hajiya Amina Abubakar, and their driver, Abdullahi Saidu, when their vehicle was ambushed along the Marabar Musawa-Kafinsoli road in Matazu Local Government Area.
