A Nigerian man has recounted how he mistakenly received a ₦2 million loan from OPay instead of ₦300,000, sparking reactions online.

A Nigerian man has sparked reactions online after sharing how he mistakenly received a ₦2 million loan from OPay instead of the ₦300,000 he intended to apply for.

The incident, shared by @toshine4u on the microblogging platform, has drawn widespread attention.

According to the man, he received a notification on his OPay app indicating he was eligible for a loan of up to ₦2 million. He needed about ₦250,000 for urgent use and decided to apply for ₦300,000. While selecting the amount, he unknowingly made a mistake and was shocked to see ₦2 million credited to his account.

He said: “I got notification on my Opay app that I can get ₦2 million loan. So yesterday I needed just ₦250k, so I decided to apply so I can take only ₦300k. Where I was pressing the amount, I never knew that I made mistake and before I know, I saw ₦2m in my account. Since I need just ₦300k, I quickly send it out from the ₦2m to my other account and I called the customer care to withdraw the balance cos I can’t pay the interest added to that ₦2m. The customer care representative is telling me there is nothing they can do. Please what can I do to avoid paying the huge interest?”
