Five Suspected Armed Criminals Arrested in Taraba After Distress Call
Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army arrested five suspected armed criminals after responding to a distress call about an attack in Taraba State.
Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke deployed at Forward Operating Base Karim Lamido have arrested five suspected armed criminals following a distress call about an attack on communities in the local government area.
According to a statement by the Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, the troops mobilised to the scene and came under fire from unidentified gunmen. They responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the assailants to flee. The troops pursued and apprehended five individuals.
Items recovered from the suspects included two motorcycles, daggers, machetes, assorted charms, gunpowder, and five mobile phones.
The Commander of the unit, Brigadier General Chukwuemeka Michael Akaliro, commended the troops for their professionalism and courage. He reiterated the Chief of Army Staff’s directive for personnel to remain vigilant and sustain efforts to flush out criminal elements. Akaliro assured the people of Taraba State of the Brigade’s commitment to pursuing criminal elements.
